What Is Ear Wax?

Ear wax (cerumen) is a natural substance that helps protect and clean the ear canal. Normally, wax moves out of the ear naturally, but sometimes it can build up and cause blockage.

What Is Ear Irrigation?

Ear irrigation, sometimes called an ear wash, is a procedure used to gently flush excess wax from the ear canal using warm water.
Before treatment, the clinician will examine your ears to ensure the procedure is safe and appropriate for you.

Preparing for Ear Wax Removal

For best results, we may recommend using olive oil or ear drops for several days before your appointment to soften the wax.
Please inform the clinician if you have:
Ear pain or discharge
A history of ear surgery
A perforated eardrum
Recurrent ear infections
Hearing aids
Dizziness or balance problems
